What is it ?

What is it about me going on vacation that triggers all sorts of issues with our clients? Well, it's not really as bad as I'm making it seem... but it's just weird.

There's this client that I've been supporting for a long time. We don't normally hear from them for months on end and when I go on vacation and someone else covers for me - sure yan, 95% probability that this client will call.

The last time that this happened was when I went on vacation (to get married) last February '07. Before that, it was in September '06 - coincidentally, it happened in the 2 week time frame that I was in Manila to prepare for the wedding. Imagine, for 2006, I went on vacation for 2 weeks and that was the only time that this client needed support.

Hay.

Next week, I'm going on vacation again. This client calls up today (at least I'm still here) and asks me to check out a few options for their application. Hopefully, I finish this by next week so I won't have to look for someone to cover for me. Turning-over work is hard.

last weekend in review

Hubby and I were out all day yesterday. Considering that there was no party to attend (we have been attending birthday parties the last 3 Saturdays and I have all these extra pounds to show), it was surprising that we were out all day on Saturday.

It was really the fault of Kohl's - a local department store. You see, they send out these 15%, 20% or 30% off coupons to their card holders and I received a 30% coupon valid from 5/15 to 5/20. Ayun, napasabak tuloy sa shopping.

Those who know me can testify that, for a girl, I rarely shop. Hindi ako mahilig. My mom gets me most of my clothes (jeans, shirts) and even supplies shoes / sandals for me (she's connected to an fashion/RTW boutique chain) so I really have no cause to buy anything and when I do buy some stuff for myself, it's usually business suits or blouses that I use when I do go out to meet clients. I also buy the occassional party dress every now and then if I have a party to attend and couldn't find something appropriate to wear in my closet. And normally, when I do shop, it's more of a get-in-and-get-out thing. I go in to the store, straight to the department where I need to buy my stuff, get what I need and I'm out in 15-30 minutes, depending on how long line the lines are for the cashier :P

So last Thursday, 5/15, hubby and I went out. Got some jeans, 2 new coats (1 got returned afterwards since the outfit that I was planning to wear it didn't really blend well with it), new blouses, and 2 new dresses. Went to another branch again this Saturday, a bigger branch, and got more clothes from there as well.

The shopping got cut off because we had to rush off to hear mass, thank goodness! By the time that we got home on Saturday evening, hubby and I were pooped. I sat on the floor, surrounded by our purchases and took stock of each item. Dressing and undressing, trying to mix / match the items with what I already had and coming up with accessories that I can wear with each one. I swear, this is so not me!

Oh, after church ? We dropped by Bed, Bath and Beyond to put in a special order for a wedding gift for a friend who's getting married in 3 weeks. After that, we dropped by the store nearby that sells personal care items (Face Values). I went home with a curling iron - again, not me! I've been - happily - trying this out on my hair and I'm having so much fun.

This weekend got me thinking about all those years when I didn't enjoy shopping... those years when I didn't even bother getting new clothes or shoes - not because I couldn't afford it, but because I didn't want to - and those years when I didn't pay any attention to kikay stuff. ... tsk tsk tsk.

So in the past month, this is what I've done that's so unlike the regular me:
- shopped for no reason and with no definite item in mind
- put on light make-up (saya rin!) whenever we go out
- got a curling iron and started fixing my hair (now, I'm looking forward to experimenting on a hairstyle for my friend's wedding)

So far, hubby has just stepped back and watched me do all these. Methinks he's amused....

a small miracle

I blogged about hubby's lost wedding ring a few weeks ago and guess what ? I found the ring a few days ago.

Galing no ?

It's really so surprising because the ring could NOT be found. It would NOT be found. We retraced our steps over and over but the ring was nowhere to be found. I was so upset. Eventually, I told my Mom about it who counselled me to just keep quiet. Sabi nga nya, (not her exact words) "sh*t happens", haha!. Ganon talaga. She asked me to just keep quiet and not nag the hubby about it na because she's sure that hubby's feeling bad about it too.

I found the ring in the washing machine.

Believe me, I've searched there. I've even dismantled the agitator (thing in the middle of the wash tub) to peek under it. Hubby and I have also gone through everything in the hamper at least twice.

So yun. Only goes to show that prayers do get answered. Thank you, Lord.
